PERIODIC EYE EXAMINATIONS are an important part of preventive health care. Many eye and vision problems have no obvious signs or symptoms. As a result, individuals are often unaware that problems exist. Early diagnosis and treatment of eye and vision problems are important for maintaining good vision and eye health, and when possible, preventing vision loss. A comprehensive vision exam includes more than just determining your need for glasses or contact lenses. As Wells Branch Vision Care, our doctors look at every aspect of the visual system to determine your visual capability, efficiency and ocular health.
CONTACT LENS EXAMINATIONS include all of the elements of a comprehensive vision exam—with a few additions. The doctor will select contact lenses that fit your vision needs and lifestyle. And then he will select lenses that fit your eyes appropriately. In addition—for first-time wearers, our staff are experts in teaching you how to insert and remove the contacts and how to keep them clean and comfortable.
WE DO MORE THAN GLASSES! The doctors at Wells Branch Vision Care are experts in all aspects of the eye and visual system. Our doctors are primary health care providers who examine, diagnose and manage diseases of the visual system and associated structures as well as diagnose related systemic conditions. They prescribe medications to treat eye diseases and perform certain surgical procedures.
DIABETES IS THE LEADING CAUSE of new cases of blindness among adults ages 20 to 74 according to the American Optometric Association. Patients with this disease are far more likely to have problems with their eyes than the rest of the population. It is recommended that diabetic patients should have a comprehensive, dilated eye exam once a year. Our doctors are experts in the management of diabetes. The diabetic eye exam goes far deeper than the routine vision exam. We will analyze your medications, blood glucose levels, and will perform a thorough retinal examination. We will take care to communicate our findings to you and also with your primary care provider (if you choose). This holistic approach has helped our patients to be more successful in avoiding the harmful effects of diabetes.
ARE YOU TIRED OF WEARING GLASSES AND CONTACT LENSES? Have you ever wondered about LASIK? Do you wish that you could play sports without the distraction of eyewear? The doctors at Wells Branch Vision Care are experts in the latest refractive surgery procedures including custom wave front guided and bladeless LASIK. Schedule an appointment today to find out if you are a good candidate. More and more Wells Branch patients are choosing LASIK every year. Our doctors will walk you through all the choices and help you to decide which procedure is best for your eyes.
THE OPTOMAP RETINAL EXAM enables our doctors to perform a comprehensive retinal evaluation quickly and noninvasively. For most patients, it represents an alternative to pupil dilation. Thorough retinal evaluation aids in the early detection of such problems as macular degeneration and glaucoma. As a screening exam, we recommend Optomap retinal scans for all patients over 40 years old once a year. For those under 40, we recommend it every two years. Our doctors will always review your images and explain any findings in the exam room.
